As the comic book industry continues to face mounting uncertainty in the face of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Image Comics has confirmed that it will not release any new titles in either print or digital this week.

The announcement comes as an expansion of Image's previously unveiled plans, which had extended its returnability policy to retailers and canceled the scheduled releases of "non-essential" publications, including new printings. Image originally planned to debut its new series Nailbiter Returns and Ludocrats in addition to other currently running titles; no rescheduled release dates have been announced at this time.

Image's policy is in line with other major publishers refraining from releasing new titles this week, including Dynamite Entertainment. DC Comics had initially announced plans to release a select number of digital titles before opting to reschedule digital releases for April 29. Marvel Comics has similarly opted not to release any digital titles this week, with Marvel noting that it would evaluate its release policy as the pandemic continues.

The pandemic has had comic book retailers worldwide shutter business operations to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. As a result, Diamond Comics announced it would be unable to make scheduled payments to publishers due to significant disruptions to its cash flow.
