Notably, the company managed to earn all six nominations for the Best New Series category, something no other publisher has ever managed. The nominees for the category are Bitter Root, by David Walker, Chuck Brown and Sanford Green (about a family of demon hunters in New York during the Harlem Renaissance); Crowded, by Christopher Sebela, Ro Stein and Ted Brandt (about a young woman and her bodyguard targeted by assassins working for the Reapr hitman app); and Gideon Falls, by Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino (about two people drawn to an otherworldly building known as the Black Barn).

Also nominated are Isola, by Brenden Fletcher and Karl Kerschl (a fantasy epic about a loyal soldier trying to reverse a curse put upon her queen); Man-Eaters, by Chelsea Cain and Kate Niemczyk (about a girl living in a world where women will transform into ferocious cat creatures); and Skyward, by Joe Henderson and Lee Garbett (about humanity adapting to a world where gravity has decreased).

"It’s always exciting to be nominated for anything, but to receive as many nominations as we did this year is a powerful testament to the sheer volume of creativity produced by the amazing writers and artists we work with here at Image,” said Eric Stephenson, publisher and chief creative officer at Image Comics, said in a statement. “Even more exciting is dominating the Best New Series category, if only because we take so much pride in making ‘new’ our specialty.”
