The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has already hit the entertainment industry hard, and comic books are certainly no exception. With things like social distancing and quarantines in effect, it's a rather uncertain time for brick and mortar comic book stores. Luckily, Image Comics has some tips on how you can still safely support your local comic shop.

The Portland-based publisher has released a new comic strip from writer Alex Cox, artist Skottie Young and letterer Nate Piekos. The strip reminds readers that "in these uncertain and lonely times, there is no better friend than your local comic shop." The strip goes on to explain that the easiest way to safely support your local shop is to start a pullbox.

Encouraging the use of ComicShopLocator.com, the strip informs readers that joining their comic shop's subscription service is as easy as making a phone call or writing an email, then signing up. The idea seems to be that by having all the books you want ready for you when you walk in the door, you can minimize the time spent in public. The comic strip is also sure to remind people that many shops are also offering mail order and home delivery amid quarantines.

Image has already implemented new measures to make things easier on retailers amid the pandemic, including an extension for returns and the cancellation of "non-essential releases." The publisher also previously stated that it would be "actively monitoring the conversations around government-mandated store closures," in addition to asking Diamond Comic Distributors to delay store billing.
