The world is controlled by an invading force of aliens, and it's the job of Image Comics’ new teen team, the Burnouts, to set things right. It’s not easy being a Burnout, though, because the only way you can fight the aliens is if you can see them, and the only way to see them is to get super wasted.

“The Burnouts are the wrong crowd that your parents always worried you'd fall in with at school and they're mankind's last hope,” said Burnouts writer Dennis Culver in a press release. “I can't wait for people to read this book! Geoffo and I have cooked up a great comic filled with teen angst, violence and dark humor.”

Burnouts #1 follows Andy, a straight-laced kid who wants nothing more than to find a little adventure outside of his usual, humdrum routine. When he hears that one of the popular kids will be holding a party, he makes the very teen decision to sneak out and attend. While Andy had his heart set on swigging some alcoholic beverages and imbibing in a dash of weed, what he actually gets is the paralyzing realization that aliens have begun to invade.

“Think John Carpenter's They Live meets Freaks & Geeks,” said artist Geoffo. “This is how Dennis pitched me the series and once I heard that I couldn't wait to draw this crazy fun thing! I'm so eager to share it with the world. You're gonna love it and you don't even have to get high to enjoy the ride!”

Written by Dennis Culver with art by Geoffo, Burnouts goes on sale on Sept. 19.
