IDW Publishing has announced it will relocate in June to the former Navy barracks within San Diego's historic NTC at Liberty Station, where it will open a comics art gallery.

Located within the publisher's new offices, the San Diego Comic Art Gallery will serve as a permanent home to showcase sequential and animation art, with retail space and working artists. Harry L. Katz, former head curator in the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress, has been named as the gallery's curator.

The first installation will be a showcase of work by Kevin Eastman, co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

“We’ve been looking to make a move for a while,” Ted Adams, IDW's CEO and publisher, said in a statement. “We’ve been expanding rapidly, and simply have run out of room. At the same time, we’ve been looking for a space that more accurately reflects who we are as a company. When we started talking with the NTC, it became evident immediately that this would be a perfect fit. And with the gallery, we’re going to be able to show the community, and the world, just who IDW is. This move is the perfect next step in the evolution of our company.”
