Diamond Comic Distributors has announced that it has been granted exclusive rights to distribute IDW Publishing's titles to the bookstore, library, and specialty markets. The deal allows IDW to continue selling its products through certain other specialty market venues.
Founded in 2001, the San Diego, CA-based IDW Publishing is a publisher of cutting edge graphic novels, art books, and comic books. Thanks to its dedication to unhindered artistic expression, IDW has attracted such acclaimed creators as Ashley Wood, Chuck Dixon, Steve Niles, Ben Templesmith, and others, who have released works such as 30 Days of Night, Popbot, and The Vanishers through the company.
"IDW is a true champion of the comics art form, and its devotion to the medium has resulted in a sizeable specialty market fan base for its products," said Diamond Vice President of Marketing Bill Schanes, "and we have no doubt that this trend will continue as readers in the bookstore and library markets become acquainted with the publisher's family of titles."
"We're very excited to be working with Diamond as they grow their bookstore and library business," said IDW Publisher Ted Adams. "Diamond's integrity was a key factor in our decision to sign with them. Their track record in the comic biz speaks for itself and I believe they will quickly become a powerful player in the bookstore and library markets."
Diamond's Sales Team will begin working with bookstores, book wholesalers, and libraries to place IDW Publishing's products across the country. "Though a relatively new company, IDW has already made notable strides in readership levels," Schanes added, "and we look forward to helping the publisher build on its presence in the larger mainstream market."
