Idris Elba Unveils 'Dark Tower' Teaser Image

Author Stephen King, director Nikolaj Arcel and producers of "The Dark Tower" have revealed few details about the ambitious adaptation, so any nugget of information is bound to send fans into a frenzy.

And this tweet from star Idris Elba, who's playing protagonist Roland Deschain, is no exception.

I am Roland, son of Steven, son of Henry, true descendant of Arthur. And I have not forgotten. #TheDarkTowerMovie pic.twitter.com/GvowjNapPC

While those words may not mean anything to someone who's never read King's fantasy epic, they hold significance to "Dark Tower" fans. "Remember the face of your father" is a sort of mantra for Roland and any other Gunslinger, a reminder to respect your heritage and get into a focused, Zen-like state when you shoot.

Elba's accompanying text confirms that, just as in the novels and the comic-book adaptation, Roland is indeed the son of Steven Deschain, who's the son of Henry, and -- who would've thunk it -- a descendant of King Arthur. Although it's already been announced that the films will deviate from the source material, it appears that Roland's lineage is fully intact.

Opening Feb. 17, 2017, “The Dark Tower” also stars Matthew McConaughey, Abbey Lee, Tom Taylor, Katheryn Winnick, Fran Kranz, Claudia Kim and Jackie Earle Haley.
