Netflix has debuted a gripping full-length trailer for its first original film, writer/director Cary Fukunaga’s acclaimed war drama “Beasts of No Nation."

Starring idris Elba, the adaptation of Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala's 2005 novel of the same name tells the story of Agu (played by newcomer Abraham Attah), a child soldier torn from his family to fight in the civil war of an African country. Elba plays Commandant, a warlord who instructs Aug in the ways of war.

"Beasts of No Nation" arrives Oct. 16 in select theaters and on Netflix.
