Netflix has released a teaser trailer for writer/director Cary Fukunaga’s “Beasts of No Nation,” which stars Idris Elba as a West African warlord. It's the streaming service's first original film.
Netflix also announced a deal with Bleecker Street and Landmark Theaters for the drama to open theatrically in all 19 Landmark markets on Oct. 16, the same day it premieres on the streaming service.
Based on the acclaimed novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala, "Beasts of No Nation" tells the story of Agu (played by newcomer Abraham Attah), a child soldier torn from his family to fight in the civil war of an African country. Elba plays Commandant, a warlord who instructs Aug in the ways of war.
