Idris Elba in Talks For Guy Ritchie's 'Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur'

Idris Elba may be taking a seat at the roundtable for director Guy Ritchie's take on Arthurian legend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the star of Pacific Rim and Thor: The Dark World is in talks to play Bedivere in Warner Bros.' Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur. It would be a reunion for Elba and Ritchie, who worked together on 2008's RocknRolla.

One of the earliest characters associated with the Arthurian cycle, Bedivere was Arthur's marshal and returned Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake. In Joby Harold's screenplay, he's the right-hand man of Arthur's father who teaches the young king how to lead an army.

Ritchie & Co. are expected to begin testing for the role of Arthur next month. Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur is scheduled to open July 22, 2016.
