Now let’s get to it …
5. If you were given the opportunity to spend 48 hours with absolutely anyone, living or dead, who would you spend it with and what would you do?
My dad who died when I was 20.
He would want to go to a car show and fishing which would be fine. I’d just want to talk.
10. Who is your favorite band/musical performer, and why are they your favorite?
That’s impossible to answer, especially these days. I was a big pop punk fan in college so once upon a time I would have said The Queers, because it’s like listening to an alternate universe Punk Rock Beach boys.
Now I listen to a lot of different stuff. I’m a big fan of The Kills, The Black Keys and M.I.A. But just as often you’ll catch me listening to LMFAO, Ke$ha and Justin Timberlake.
20. What’s the scariest movie you’ve ever seen?
I’m a big horror movie fan, which makes me kind of a tough scare. For some reason Candyman really scared me when I watched it as a kid. I was up super late watching it by myself, and had to turn it off and finish it in the morning.
The Blair Witch Project spooked me back in high school, and I think the first Paranormal Activity is pretty successfully scary.
21. Who has been the biggest help or motivator in your career?
I have a lot of friends who helped me out and kept me motivated. Kevin Mellon, Jason Aaron, Mike Norton and Tony Moore were all there for me from the beginning.
But my biggest motivator has always been my wife. I couldn’t and wouldn’t have made it without her patience and support.
24. What did you dress up as the last time you dressed in a costume (whether that’s Halloween, a convention, or wherever)?
I love Halloween. We got too busy and had to skip it this past year but I went as Mad Max the year before last. I built his leg brace out of random parts from the hardware store and a pair of old biker boots I used for a Han Solo costume in high school. Then I tore the lining and right arm out of a leather jacket and riveted in some sections of old football shoulder pads.
30. What hobbies or interests do you have outside of comics?
I like building elaborate Halloween costumes. A few years ago I spent six months on a strict diet and exercise routine so I could wear a He-Man costume without too much shame. I didn’t exactly look like “The Most Powerful Man in the Universe” by the end, but after a couple whiskeys I wore those furry underwear with pride.
My wife and I love to travel. We went on a crazy tour of France, Spain and Morocco last summer.
I’m also a football fan. I like to run, and the trunk of my car is littered with beat-up disc golf discs.
