I Kill Giants Film Adaptation Drops First Trailer

The first trailer for the live-action film adaptation of I Kill Giants, the critically-acclaimed 2008 Image Comics series from Joe Kelly and J. M. Ken Niimura, is finally here.

The I Kill Giants trailer, which debuted on Yahoo!, showcases outcast fifth grader Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe) as she immerses herself in fantasy worlds with her best friend Sophia (Sydney Wade) in order to escape the harsh reality of her life. The trailer also offers a glimpse of the giants she believes she’s meant to fight, as well as her interactions with her school psychologist Ms. Molle (Zoe Saldana) and Imogen Poots as Barbara’s worried sister.

Directed by Anders Walter in his feature debut, the movie -- which debuted last year at Toronto International Film Festival -- details her battles with these giants in the woods near her home in what turns out to be a deeply emotive but very mysterious story which leaves the viewers actually wondering if they’re real or simply part of her coping mechanisms.

I Kill Giants won the Gold Award at the 5th International Manga Award in 2012. It was also named in 2010 among the “Top Ten Great Graphic Novels For Teens” by the Young Adult Library Services Association.

I Kill Giants opens in theaters, On Demand and Digital HD on March 23, based on a screenplay from Kelly, with Chris Columbus producing through 1492 Pictures/Ocean Blue Entertainment.
