Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will allow gamers to play as young Impa in addition to the four Hyrule champions.

This was confirmed during a two-hour livestream for the 2020 Tokyo Game Show, which included gameplay for the new Legend of Zelda title. About an hour and forty minutes into the video, a young Impa can be seen running through the battlefield, fighting off an army of Bokoblins. Impa uses a number of different attacks. Like Link, she uses a blade that can deliver a rapid succession of blows. However, thanks to her Sheikah heritage, Impa can also use magic in battle. She can conjure up spells to produce an exploding Sheikah symbol, and can even summon blue, ghostly clones that allow her to do multiple attacks at once.

Further gameplay shows Impa battling more than just Bokoblins as a Wizzrobe attempts to bring her down. Impa uses her clones to give her a slight advantage during the battle. Then, what seems to be her special move is revealed as the camera focuses on her. Using a series of hand symbols, her clones dash towards the Wizzrobe and begin building barrels to trap it. A blue symbol appears above its head, and Impa takes out her blade with a chant. The symbol explodes, and blue light engulfs Impa while the Wizzrobe turns black and fades away.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will take place 100 years before Breath of The Wild, as the warriors prepare to fight Calamity Ganon. The game will be released for Nintendo Switch on Nov. 20.
