If fan theorists are correct, the creature that shares a body with Alluka Zoldyck has only just begun threatening the world of Hunter X Hunter. To further play into the mysterious nature of this black-eyed creature, Yoshihiro Togashi used a word that translates into the English word "something" to name Nanika.
Although her actions are scary enough as it is, all this mystery makes Nanika's actions even more terrifying. This culmination of frightening attributes is what makes Nanika such a memorable character, despite only being introduced in the final Hunter X Hunter arc.
7 Nanika Invaded Alluka Zoldyck's Body And Became A Permanent Resident
Nanika's origin is still a mystery. Many fan theorists believe that the creature sharing space inside Alluka Zoldyck's body comes from the Dark Continent. While there is quite a bit of evidence that supports this theory, it doesn't explain why the creature has targeted Alluka Zoldyck.
Killua's younger sister is one of the sweetest characters introduced in Hunter X Hunter. This is especially noteworthy when fans consider the heartlessness of those who carry the name Zoldyck. Perhaps Nanika's worst offense is forcing itself on Alluka without the young girl's consent.
6 Depending On The Size Of The Wish Granted, Nanika's Requests Become More And More Difficult
Before Killua used Nanika's power to heal Gon, the Zoldyck's believed that the only way to use the powerful nen creature's ability was to fulfill three requests. These requests were almost always violent in nature, which led the Zoldycks to reach a nasty conclusion.
If they were to use Nanika's power, they would either have to sacrifice their own lives or the lives of others. Furthermore, the size of the wish would impact the level of violence that each request demanded. Though it opened the door to limitless power, even the Zoldycks determined that the price was simply too high to pay.
5 Nanika Murdered Innocent People So That Milluki Could Have More Toys & A New Computer
Not all the Zoldycks swore off Nanika's wish-fulfilling power after Silva Zoldyck demanded it. Those who could ignore the guilt that came along with sacrificing the lives of others freely satiated their own greed with Nanika's power.
Milluki is one of the Zoldycks who continued to use Nanika's power until Killua stepped in to free his younger sister. On two separate occasions, Milluki sacrificed his servants in order to wish for new toys and even a new computer. Considering the Zoldyck's wealth, it is hard to believe that the young otaku couldn't have just asked his mother or father for a new computer.
4 Nanika Murdered Countless Staff Members Working Within The Zoldyck Estate
In order to figure out how the power of Nanika worked, Kikyo Zoldyck used her own work staff as sacrificial lambs. Mitsuba, Hassam, Kasuga and more than 60 others were sacrificed so that Kikyo could better understand that mystery that is Nanika. Some may just blame Kikyo for this, but it was Nanika who demanded Kasuga to rip out her own spine in order to grant Kikyo's wish. In this case, both are the aggressors, though Kikyo certainly deserves most of the blame.
These names may not mean much to viewers, but imagine if Canary had been one of the staff members sacrificed by Kikyo. If this were the case, both Nanika and Kikyo would forever be on fans' blacklist.
3 Tsubone Was Forced To Rip Out Three Fingernails To Satiate Nanika
Considering the grave demands that Nanika has made of other Zoldyck staff members, ripping off three fingernails doesn't actually seem that bad. Still, it is unlikely that fans were able to watch Tsubone rip off her own nail and drop it in Alluka's hand without grimacing.
After removing one nail, Tsubone quickly turned around and ran in the opposite direction of Killua and Nanika. When she returned, Nanika demanded two more fingernails which allowed Killua to demonstrate how Nanika's power could be used for good instead of evil.
2 Nanika Never Attempts To Explain How Its Power Works
If the dark creature living within Alluka Zoldyck were to explain its power, the Zoldyck family could have easily avoided all the bloodshed that came from experimenting with Nanika's power. After Killua saves Gon, it becomes clear that Nanika's power can be activated without the need for bloodshed or violence.
Rather than taking responsibility for its actions and explaining how the power of Nanika works, this creature forces the Zoldycks to bear the responsibility of a power strong enough to eviscerate human life and turn the plot of Hunter X Hunter on its metaphorical head.
1 Nanika Saved Gon After He Miserably Failed To Control His Angry Emotions
Prior to the unfinished Dark Continent Saga, the plot of Hunter X Hunter followed Gon Freecss as he learned to master the art of nen while failing to take into account his emotional immaturity. As Gon learns more and more about nen, his selfish desires push him down a path of revenge that he is simply too immature to handle correctly.
This path ends with Gon crippling himself in order to teach fans of HxH that great power must also come with an equal amount of responsibility. By saving Gon, Nanika corrupts this lesson, though Yoshihiro manages to fit in a pretty great lesson on forgiveness while muddling his previous plotline.
