Also known as the Clown, Hisoka is one of the antagonists of the Hunter x Hunter series. He served as a member of the Phantom Troupe at one point in the series, although his motives have always been different from the rest of the members.
Hisoka is quite powerful, strong enough to take on some of the strongest of characters in the entire Hunter x Hunter series. However, there are definitely those who he still can't beat with the level of power that he has right now. Here are 5 Hunter x Hunter characters Hisoka can defeat and 5 others that he can't.
10 Can Defeat: Uvogin
Uvogin was one of the most impressive members of the Phantom Troupe and he ranked as the strongest member of the Troupe, physically speaking. He could catch bullets with his hands and his punches were comparable to bombs themselves.
Despite this, Uvogin was actually not that hard to defeat, as proven by Kurapika. Even though Uvogin's physical abilities were remarkable, he still lacked in other areas. Meanwhile, Hisoka was able to fight and overpower Chrollo in battle, meaning he was superior to Uvogin in nearly every way possible.
9 Can't Defeat: Isaac Netero
Netero was the Chairman of the Hunter Association at one point and also the strongest known Hunter right until his death. In his old age, he proved to be strong enough to match the likes of Meruem to some extent, which just shows that he was in a league of his own.
In his prime, he was twice as strong as he was in his old age and someone like him would find it way too easy to defeat Hisoka. During the Hunter Exam Arc, Hisoka tried to challenge Netero but the latter didn't even consider him worthy of a fight.
8 Can Defeat: Killua Zoldyck
Killua is one of the protagonists of Hunter x Hunter and a member of the infamous Zoldyck family. Over the years, Killua has developed tremendously and become a seasoned Hunter, despite being so young.
He proved to be strong enough to put up a fight against Menthuthuyoupi to some extent, which shows he's worthy of fighting Hisoka too. However, Killua certainly isn't on the same level as Hisoka yet and will end up losing if the two were to ever clash.
7 Can't Defeat: Ging Freecss
Ging is the father of Gon Freecss and the most mysterious Hunter in the series to date. He's extremely strong, which is evident from the fact that Netero considered him to be one of the top 5 Nen users alive during the Chimera Ant arc.
Ging's true abilities aren't known right now, but he's still powerful enough to defeat Hisoka, from what we've been told. In the Dark Continent arc, we may see the two come face to face against each other at some point.
6 Can Defeat: Gon Freecss
Gon Freecss is the protagonist of the Hunter x Hunter series and a child described as a prodigy by many. His teacher, Wing, states Gon's potential could possibly make him one of the greatest Hunters ever.
By the end of the Chimera Ant arc, Gon became quite powerful. However, he's still not powerful enough to take on Hisoka. The latter has matched Chrollo in battle, who himself fought Zeno and Silva at once and brushed them off like it was nothing. Clearly, there is a big difference in the skill of Gon and Hisoka.
5 Can't Defeat: Kurapika
A member of the Kurta Clan, Kurapika is an incredibly powerful character who has become rather dangerous over the years, especially for the members of the Phantom Troupe. Although Hisoka isn't really a member of the Troupe, it is possible that Kurapika's contract can work against him.
In case it does, there is absolutely no chance for Hisoka to defeat him. Against the members of the Troupe, Kurapika is invincible, which means Hisoka will have a hard time defeating him in battle.
4 Can Defeat: Leorio
Leorio is one of Gon's closest friends who aims to become a Doctor. Leorio is a weak character when compared to his peers, which means he doesn't stand a chance against Hisoka.
Even if Hisoka were to hold back against Leorio, he still wouldn't be able to defeat him, which just goes to show the difference in skill between the two. That's not to say Leorio can never put up a fight against him, however. By the end of the series, it is possible that Leorio will have improved as well and become powerful enough to at least fight Hisoka.
3 Can't Defeat: Neferpitou
One of the Royal Guards of Meruem, Neferpitou is an incredibly powerful character whose Nen ability is tremendous, no matter how you look at it. Pitou was strong enough to defeat Kite in battle and Colt mentioned them being stronger than Netero, which means the difference in skill between them and Hisoka is too massive.
Pitou's Nen ability is known to be mind-blowing and when compared to Hisoka, they're superior in almost every way possible. If the two were to clash, Hisoka would lose the fight without Pitou going all out.
2 Can Defeat: Cheetu
Cheetu was one of the Squadron Leaders of the Chimera Ant army who had multiple Nen abilities gifted to him by Shaiapouf. He claimed to be the fastest of all the Chimera Ants and his strength was nothing to take lightly either.
However, Cheetu was defeated by Silva Zoldyck in just a single blow, which means he doesn't stand much of a chance against Hisoka either. If the two ever fought, Hisoka would've obliterated him.
1 Can't Defeat: Meruem
Meruem, also known as the King of the Ants, is the strongest known character to ever appear Hunter x Hunter. Born as the pinnacle of evolution, Meruem was said to be stronger than all his Royal Guards.
He was able to defeat Netero without much trouble, which shows how frightening he truly was. After being revived, Meruem got even stronger and his powers were behind comprehension. Hisoka can never achieve the same level of power as him, so defeating him isn't really possible for him at all.
