Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter follows the story of Gon Freecss, a young boy from Whale Island who aims to become a great hunter like his father. With that goal in mind, he sets off on an incredible adventure and encounters several powerful characters along the way.
The series, being a battle shonen, features some of the most incredible clashes that fans still remember to this day, and that's mostly thanks to the beautiful and exhilarating work done by Togashi on them. Here are the five best fights fans have seen in Hunter x Hunter, and the five characters who won those fights.
10 Best Fight: Zeno And Silva Vs. Chrollo
Zeno and Silva were hired to stop the Phantom Troupe during the Yorknew City arc of Hunter x Hunter, and, to do that, the two had to face off against Chrollo Lucilfer.
Although the fight was short, it was filled with some very exciting moments. Lots of details about the powers of all three characters were revealed to the fans and Chrollo's ability was properly explained for the first time.
9 Winner: Draw
The fight between Zeno and Silva and Chrollo didn't have a clear winner, although the latter did manage to hold his own against two strong characters.
The fight ended as a draw, but, interestingly, Zeno claimed that Chrollo could've defeated him if he went in with the intent to kill, meaning he was holding back even when faced by two strongest assassins in the world.
8 Best Fight: Kurapika Vs. Uvogin
Another gem of a fight from the Yorknew City arc, Kurapika's clash with Uvogin saw him avenge the massacre of his clan members and pay Uvogin back in the process.
The fight gave the fans a proper look at what Kurapika was capable of doing, his Conjuration based Nen abilities, and above all, the power of the scarlet eyes, Emperor Time. Undoubtedly, this fight goes down in history as one of the best in anime.
7 Winner: Kurapika
Although Uvogin was quite a strong character who could even defeat the Shadow Beasts without much trouble, he proved to be no match for Kurapika, whose Nen contract saw to it that no member of Phantom Troupe could put up a fight against him.
Kurapika's Emperor Time ability also shone quite heavily throughout this fight and gave everyone a glimpse of how monstrous the power of this boy really was.
6 Best Fight: Chrollo Vs. Hisoka
Hisoka is a person who always seeks to fight the strongest of characters, and, when Chrollo's Nen was sealed by Kurapika, he was quite disappointed. Once a Nen exorcist did the job and freed Chrollo, the two fought in an incredible battle that saw both of them demonstrate a whole barrage of Nen abilities. The fight was quite even between the two, and the level of it stunned everyone witnessing it in the process.
5 Winner: Chrollo Lucilfer
The epic clash that was Chrollo vs. Hisoka was ultimately won by Chrollo thanks to him being more prepared for this fight. With preparation and help, defeating Chrollo in a fight is close to impossible for most people, including Hisoka himself.
Despite Hisoka being ready to 'break' Chrollo, he ended up failing in the task and was left in a near-death state once the fight had concluded.
4 Best Fight: Gon Vs. Neferpitou
Neferpitou was one of the members of the Chimera Ant Royal Guards of King Meruem. They were incredibly powerful, and the level of their skill was enough to take down even someone as experienced and powerful as Kite.
After having killed the man so close to Gon, the latter burst in rage and used a Nen contract to obtain power far beyond what he could even handle. Gon's fight against Neferpitou was an incredible showing of the horrors of what the loss of a loved one can do to a kind soul.
3 Winner: Gon
Once Gon exchanged his vitality and Nen for all that power, it was incredibly obvious to the viewers that Pitou wouldn't stand a chance against him. The fight was very one-sided, with Gon's rage and pain completely overwhelming Pitou and eventually killing her.
Gon was left in a near-death state after all was done, and, had it not been for Killua, his best friend, he would most certainly have died after this fight.
2 Best Fight: Meruem Vs. Netero
Meruem was the strongest known character in the world of Hunter x Hunter, and, during the Chimera Ant arc, he got to trade blows with the strongest human, Isaac Netero.
Although Meruem's power was levels above that of Netero, the latter still wanted to test his limits, push further beyond, and fight the strongest. Netero did quite well in this fight and even made the King feel pain, tiredness, numbness, and, most importantly, fear for the very first time.
1 Winner: Meruem
With the power difference between Meruem and Netero being as vast as it was, there was only one winner in this battle from start to finish. Meruem was able to eventually read the rhythm of Netero's Guanyin Bodhisattva, find openings to hurt him, and eventually defeat him.
Once Netero was all out of Nen, he set off the Poor Man's Rose in an attempt to take out Meruem, which he ultimately succeeded in. Nonetheless, the clash between the two ended in a Meruem's victory.
