Hisoka was one of the first antagonists to debut in the Hunter X Hunter universe. He was a fan favorite for his demented mannerisms, unique aesthetic, and the terrifying bungee gum ability at his disposal (which combines the properties of rubber and gum to make a formidable weapon).RELATED: Killua & 9 Other Anime Assassins That Look Innocent But Are DeadlyAccordingly, many fans have sought to pay homage to the maligned, clown-like man through their awesome and dedicated cosplays. Through highlighting some of its best, we have a better appreciation for the character, as well as the enthusiasm and creativity surrounding the anime's fanbase.

10 A Real Card

Pentragon1990 demonstrates their excellent take on Hisoka's character in this cosplay. Their color schemes are impeccable, combining his famous ivory with the gaudy maroon and pink to compliment it.

Perhaps most important is the nonchalant way in which they present themselves, matching the character's casually malevolent nature. Through this same unassuming though quietly menacing comportment, Hisoka became one of the most intimidating villains for Gon and Killua to face in the original Hunter Exam arc. By copying the Nen user's posture, he further brings the character to life.

9 Badge Of Dishonor

Hexalot captures Hisoka's likeness in this stunning iteration of the villain. Like the previous cosplayer, his icy stare matches all of the malevolence that the character possesses, with a physique redolent to the evildoer's own.

Perhaps the most intriguing detail of this outfit is through the "44" badge pinned to his lapel. It indicates a reference from the original Hunter Exam arc, where Gon had successfully stolen it from him, only to be caught and confronted for his foolishness. Though he would allow him to keep it, it became a surprising source of tension between the two of them, with Gon insisting that it be returned since he did not earn it "correctly."

8 A Handful Of Trouble

Hisoka cosplay

NekoviUwU further emphasizes Hisoka's identity around playing cards. They are arguably just as instrumental to his character as his bungee gum, and he used them as deadly weapons in order to dispatch many of his opponents in the arc where he was introduced. This speaks to his physical power and precision, given that he can hurl them fast enough to lodge inside a human skull.

In the cosplay, his strength is acknowledged through how his cards protrude through the piano. It is a witty touch and demonstrates its wearer's knowledge of the character they are paying tribute to.

7 Glaring Daggers

BlaiseBandage depicts her iteration of Hisoka through a stunning usage of makeup. In addition to the iconic teardrop and star painted across her face, her hair is roughly the same shade of reddish maroon to the character she is imitating.

Further, her brows arc in a similar manner to his own, evincing a commendable attention to detail. She provides a contrast to Hisoka himself in the forth image of the gallery to further prove how much her likeness resembles the original character.

6 No Laughing Matter

dragun_chan depicts a hypnotizing cosplay through her excellent makeup and intelligent usage of props. The dull indigo light radiating from her body is a nice reference to the Nen Hisoka commands and further ties the image together.

Moreover, she holds her props expertly, as if prepared to plunge into battle. This reflects Hisoka's pugnacious and intrepid mannerisms well, as he finds conflict and challenge to be the main purpose of life itself. Therefore, the cosplay excels on a number of fronts and is especially wonderful given the photography of the image.

5 Smug & Self Assured

Mafumuto's imitation of Hisoka's mannerisms are virtually perfect, even including his self assured and somewhat caustic smirk. The slight tilt of his hips with his hands perched on his thighs is a reference to one of Hisoka's most iconic (and lecherous) moments at the fighting arena.

Additionally, he captures his later designs well, blending purple socks with baggy white leggings. The patterns on his sash and tubed armbands indicate a meticulous attention to detail and a dedication in matching every aspect of the deranged villain.

4 Both Rubber & Gum

Hisoka's most famous ability is easily his bungee gum, a Nen skill that allows him to produce a pliable substance almost impossible to break. Deidara-Clone uses it as a prop to compliment his already impressive outfit, one which draws attention to the character and the strength he wields.

His wig is another excellent addition to his ensemble, combed back perfectly and retaining a pigment redolent of the canon design. The cosplayer's gum demonstrates his knowledge to the character he is paying an homage toward and reflects the effort he has poured into creating the costume.

3 Signature Look Of Superiority

stitchyalice spares no expense in recreating Hisoka and bringing his likeness to life. One of the features she captures best are of his curved eyebrows and signature makeup, providing a subtle though palpable impression of superiority.

The cosplay excels more than others when one considers the nails on her hands. Canonically, Hisoka shares similarly sharp fingertips, ones that he sometimes uses in order to rend the flesh of his opponents (much like Killua). In this regard, its frontal presence in the image calls awareness to the villain's often unappreciated weapon.

2 A Tenuous Alliance

whiskeypeak reminds us that when Hisoka was introduced, he was not the sole villain the heroes had faced. Killua's older brother, Illumi Zoldyck, was also a force to be reckoned with and one which had partnered with the mad clown in order to have a more decisive victory.

This image pays an homage to their unlikely pact, with the assassin brandishing his iconic syringes. Though Illumi's reveal may have only occurred near the final trial, it was one of the most shocking and memorable moments in the entire arc since it made us question whether or not Killua may be corrupted.

1 The Joker

galacticprince_ returns to a traditional albeit nonetheless splendid iteration of Hisoka Morow.  Their distinguishable features can be gleaned through lofted brows and slicked ruby red hair. Facial markings also indicate the character well, positioned perfectly on the cosplayer's face.

The "joker" between their fingers is a nice touch, both since it represents the villain's nature and since he canonically wields playing cards against his enemies. Therefore, the cosplayer's enthusiasm about the character and an extensive knowledge to go with it is evident to all who appreciate their work.
