The future of Hasbro-based films seemed a little rocky after the box-office failure of Universal's Battleship. That might be the end of the relationship between the toymaker and the studio, but it hasn't stopped Hasbro from continuing to look for Hollywood partners.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hasbro struck up a deal with Emmett/Furla Films, which has been involved in such films as Rambo, The Wicker Man and End of Watch.
The agreement will see Emmett/Furla produce and co-finance three movies in the next two years based on the Hasbro games Monopoly and Hungry Hungry Hippos as well as the action figure line Action Man. Both Hippos and Action Man had been in various stages of production at different studios, so it's no surprise that Monopoly will be the first of the projects to get filmed, starting in early 2013.
