10 Colossus Doesn't Mind Taking A Back Seat As Long As The Day Is Saved

Colossus X-Force

Colossus has long been the strong, silent heart of the X-Men. The team's resident strongman, Colossus would prefer to be quietly creating art, but has no problem beating the enemies of mutantkind to submission when the need arises. He's also extremely humble, which makes sense for someone brought up on a Soviet collective farm.

Colossus is a massive mountain of steel, but he stays in the background, doing his job and then getting out of the limelight. Colossus is as humble as they come, a man who doesn't need the praise as long as the right thing gets done.

9 Storm May Have Been Worshiped As A Goddess, But She Doesn't Seek The Praise

X-Men SWORD Storm Tarn 3

Storm is one of the most powerful mutants on Earth and she's done many different things in her life. She was once a goddess on the Serengeti, using her powers to help the tribes there. However, she didn't make them worship her, they just did. Storm didn't take over leadership of the X-Men because she wanted the attention, she did it because she was the best choice.

Storm has held some lofty positions, but she never sought them out. She relishes her role as one of mutantkind's greatest protectors, but when the day is over, she'd rather retire to her greenhouse and be with her friends. Storm doesn't want the spotlight, but it wants her.

8 The Thing Finds The Attention A Revolting Development

The Thing wants you to know that clobberin' time has commenced.

The Thing is probably the most private of the Fantastic Four. It wasn't always that way, but after his transformation, Ben held himself apart from the world. While he would eventually come around, he's not the glory hound the Human Torch is and he doesn't have the desire for everyone to know he's the smartest like Reed does. He's still the humble kid from Yancy Street.

7 Black Panther Lets His Actions Speak For Him

Black Panther Christopher Priest Mark Texeira

Black Panther has changed a lot over the years, but one thing that hasn't changed is his quiet competence. Black Panther was raised to be King of Wakanda, but he never let that go to his head. T'Challa is the best person in just about any room he walks into, but he doesn't boast about it; he doesn't do what he does for the praise. He gets praise regardless of what he does. Black Panther can't help that his actions are so noticed by the world, but it's not a situation that he grooms.

6 Black Widow's Humble Attitude Comes From Her Line Of Work

Black Widow Family feature

Black Widow is one of Marvel's top spies, which explains why she doesn't exactly take a lot of credit for things. Black Widow's life in black ops has conditioned her to be a private person when it comes to her heroism. She keeps secrets very well; it's basically second nature to her.

While she's led the Avengers, the spotlight isn't a place she likes to be. Black Widow is more comfortable in the shadows, doing good and fading away for the next mission. She's not a flashy person, she just does what needs to get done to make up for all of the bad things she's done over the years.

5 Cyclops Is All About Responsibility Not The Attention

Cyclops X-Men Jean Grey Polaris

Cyclops has long been one of the most important X-Men. While he's been a team leader for nearly his entire superheroic career, he was appointed leader by Professor X because Xavier was afraid Cyclops would kill himself otherwise. Cyclops stepped up as leader, becoming one of the best leaders in the Marvel Universe.

Cyclops is a protective sort of person and he prefers to take all of the responsibility for himself. He doesn't do it because he wants the praise, he does it because he wants to make sure things get done the right way. Cyclops has no problem taking all the difficult decisions on himself.

Non-Stop Spider-Man feature

Peter Parker was always a quiet, bookish lad and while Spider-Man is his personality turned up to eleven, he's still a humble person. Spider-Man doesn't fight crime because he wants the attention, he does it because he feels like he has to.

In his mind, being boastful and self centered is inextricably linked to pain. It's that attitude that caused him to let Uncle Ben's killer get away from him. Peter learned what happens to a person when they are like that and now stays humble.

Cap is an icon and he can't help that. People listen to him, but all he tells them is to do what they need to do for themselves. He's the kind of person who would prefer the anonymity, but he knows what he does is important. Captain America's not going to court the limelight, but he'll use it.
