FX last night unveiled the downright apocalyptic teaser for the second season of The Strain, the horror series based on the bestselling vampire novels by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan.

The 30-second promo reveals a fiery New York City in chaos as gravel-voiced David Bradley's Abraham Setrakian intones, "The battle has begun. The evil is spreading, changing the human race, literally turning us into monsters. We must fight -- all of us, fight to save our civilization. Fight or die."

When the first season came to a close in October, Setrakian, Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) & Co. were left at least temporarily defeated after their plan to kill the Master failed, even as the undead hunter Mr. Quinlan recruited Gus (Miguel Gomez) to join a parallel effort to destroy the ancient renegade vampire.

The 13-episode second season of The Strain premieres this summer.
