Hulu’s Runaways and Marvel’s Netflix Series to Share the Same World

It seems like the narrative universe battle lines are being drawn over at Marvel Television. The division of Marvel Entertainment recently made clear that the upcoming series Inhumans would share a narrative universe with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as both shows air (or will air) on ABC. However, that’s not the case with the recent news about Hulu’s Runaways, which, according to Jeph Loeb, will exist in the same narrative universe as Marvel’s Netflix shows.https://twitter.com/decider/status/890699262039699456The news comes courtesy of Decider, which interviewed Loeb, the executive vice president of Marvel Television, as part of the Television Critics Association press tour. Loeb confirmed that Runaways will connect to Marvel’s Netflix offerings, though he did not outline what form that connection will take. Shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones have referenced superheroes from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe in the past, but this may be the first time Marvel Television’s narrative universes have crossed the treacherous network chasm -- or in this case, streaming service.
