Aneesh Chaganty's Run destroyed all feature film competition in its November opening weekend, becoming the most-watched Hulu film ever.Although Hulu refrained from sharing its viewership numbers with the general public, it did confirm the horror-mystery film's incredible success to Deadline. The streaming service also shared the happy news that Run is the most talked-about Hulu film on Twitter.RELATED: Does Hulu's Run Take Place in the Stephen King Universe?Originally, Run planned to have a Mother's Day release date in 2020. Once the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic struck globally, its theatrical release was delayed indefinitely. In August, Hulu grabbed the domestic rights to the film from Lionsgate. However, Lionsgate does still hold Run's foreign theatrical rights, as confirmed by Deadline.Run centers its nerve-wracking plot around Chloe's (Kiera Allen) mysterious ailments, possibly caused by her mother, Diane Sherman (Sarah Paulson). As protective love bleeds into possession, Chloe starts to suspect that something isn't quite right with her sinister mother. The film is set in Derry, Maine, which led fans to speculate it could take place within Stephen King's universe of horror. While that speculation wasn't confirmed by director Chaganty, it does seem like he's a big fan of King. He posted the below message to his Twitter, "Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. DEFCON 7," after the acclaimed and prolific horror writer Stephen King publicly commented that he's a fan of his film.

Actor Sarah Paulson also recently commented on the recent news that Run is the most successful Hulu film to date. Paulson wrote on Twitter, "AHHHHHHH!! #RunFilm ranks as the most-watched film on @Hulu EVER since premiering!! This wouldn’t be possible without each and every one of you. YOU MADE THIS HAPPEN!! On behalf of everyone on the @OfficialRunFilm team, we are so grateful!!!! I guess I am your mom???"

This isn't the first time that horror-queen Sarah Paulson was attached to a streaming project that killed its competition. In September, Paulson's Ratched -- a reimagined take on Nurse Ratched from 1975's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest -- debuted at the top of Netflix's charts within its first week on the streaming service.

Directed by Aneesh Chaganty, Run stars Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen. The film was co-written by Aneesh Chaganty and Sev Ohanian. The horror mystery is available now on Hulu.
