Hulu announced the main cast for How I Met Your Father, the sequel series to How I Met Your Mother.

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, HIMYF will star Hilary Duff as Sophie as she recounts to her son how she and his father first came together in "a story that catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options." The rest of the cast members are as follows:

Francia Raisa will play Sophie's roommate Valentina, "an aspiring stylist and Sophie’s great friend. She’s impulsive and adventurous and Sophie relies on Valentina’s ability to cheer her up when she gets down. Valentina has just returned from London Fashion Week with the gorgeous Brit Charlie." Raisa currently stars on Grown-ish.

Tom Ainsley will play Charlie, "an aspiring model who fell in love with Valentina at London Fashion Week and who followed her to New York. The son of conservative aristocrats, Charlie’s a great guy but he’s been living in a rich person’s bubble his whole life." Ainsley has previously had roles in Versailles and The Royals.

The character is described as "more comfortable on an organic lettuce field than in a Brooklyn dive bar." Tran is a comedian who has acted on the podcast Dark Air with Terry Carnation.

Suraj Sharma will round out the cast as "Sid, Jesse’s roommate and best friend. He’s a new bar owner and plays the optimist to Jesse’s cynicism." Sharma made his feature film debut as the titular character in Life of Pi.

HIMYF will serve as a sequel series to CBS's long-running sitcom How I Met Your Mother, with original creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays serving as executive producers for the new series. Thomas recently tweeted about meeting the cast for HIMYF and saying they were "a goddamn delight." In addition to Thomas and Bays, Pam Fryman will return to direct all 10 episodes of the season after directing 196 of HIMYM's 208 episodes, while Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger will act as showrunners.
