Outlander showrunner Ronald D. Moore will be bringing another fantastical series to life exclusively on Hulu -- and this time he'll explore the faerie lands of Prythian.

Moore inked a deal with the streaming platform to adapt Sarah J. Maas' A Court of Thorns and Roses fantasy books, with Maas along to co-adapt the series as well, according to THR.

Maas confirmed the good news on Instagram by posting a photo of all five books from her fantasy series, along with the caption, "So, it's official (and thank you, Josh, for accidentally spilling the beans! ): Ron Moore (creator of Outlander and one of my creative idols) and I will co-adapt ACOTAR as a tv show for Hulu!"

The author continued, "I'm currently hard at work writing the pilot with Ron (!!!!!), and while there is SO much more news to share with you guys about bringing this series to life, it just feels so great to finally be able to talk about this! Stay tuned for more details!!"

Maas released the first book in the series, A Court of Thorns and Roses (or ACOTAR), in 2015. She followed that book with four more sequels centered on the 19-year-old huntress, Feyre Archeron: A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight and A Court of Silver Flames.

An official synopsis for the Hulu adaptation reads,

A Court of Thorns and Roses blends epic romance, adventure, and political intrigue in a tale of a huntress who agrees to travel to a magical realm with a faerie lord in return for her family’s safety, only to fall for him and ultimately fight for that love when an ancient curse threatens to destroy the faerie and human realms.

At the time of this writing, there are no announcements related to casting for the upcoming Hulu series nor a release date.

In addition to being the showrunner for 2004's Battlestar Galactica and Outlander, Moore launched the sci-fi series For All Mankind for Apple TV in 2019. There have also been rumors about a possible Outlander spinoff. Meanwhile, Maas' other writing credits include the Throne of Glass (2012) series and The Crescent City (2020) series.

Moore also recently gave his blessing to the upcoming Battlestar Galactica series that's being developed by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail. While details are scarce on the upcoming series, it is confirmed to "respect" the world previously created by Moore.
