The Hellraiser remake was announced in April 2020 and sees the revival of the classic horror film, written and directed by Clive Barker in 1987. David S. Goyer, responsible for the penning of the Blade trilogy and Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, will be taking on the role of writer and co-producer for the film, with V/H/S's David Bruckner directing the project.

The original Hellraiser was based on an adaption of Barker's own novella The Hellbound Heart. Although it divided critics, it has since garnered a cult following, as well as nine sequels and a wide distribution of merchandise. More recently, a Hellraiser series was announced for HBO Max, with Halloween's David Gorgon Green directing the pilot and initial episodes and Barker acting as executive producer

Barker's involvement in the Hulu remake remains unclear. However, in December 2020, Barker re-aquired the Hellraiser film rights, which are slated to fully return to him on Dec. 19, 2021.
