WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Gamma Flight #4, available now from Marvel Comics.

The saga of the Immortal Hulk has transformed the gamma irradiated corner of the Marvel Universe into a horror show, and the heroes of Gamma Flight are right in the middle of it. When faced with taking down a shadowy organization backed up by an entire army of Gamma Zombies, the team still has one ace up their sleeve that might end the battle before it starts. Unfortunately, their best plan means heading back into enemy territory. Luckily, Gamma Flight member Del Frye knows how to navigate the terrifying terrain, and debuts an all-new set of spooky powers in Gamma Flight #4 (by Al Ewing, Crystal Frazier, Lan Medina, Antonio Fabela and VC's Joe Sabino).

Ever since discovering the unwitting army slumbering away in Gamma Purgatory, the heroes' number one priority has been finding a way to stop it. As it turns out, the Cathexis Ray tech that is being used to empower Abomination's army was originally created by Doc Samson. In his first appearance back in 1971's Incredible Hulk #141 (by Roy Thomas and Herb Trimpe), the Cathexis Ray was turned on the Hulk by Doc Samson, and with it Bruce Banner was stripped of both his Gamma and psionic energies. Knowing this, the team plans to get Doc to the heart of Abomination's operation and turn his own weapon against him, but doing so means getting through his roving, irradiated forces.

Thankfully, the fused Del Frye and Rick Jones have a connection to the Gamma that makes them able to see and sense other Gamma beings from afar, much like how they were able to sense the rest of the team after they became lost in Gamma Purgatory. Using this ability, Del is able to lead them once more into enemy territory without being detected by the Gamma Zombies. Del's powers don't keep them from being seen by Abomination's security system, however, and Skaar is sent to deal with the intruders. As intimidating as the son of the Hulk is, Del Frye is outright horrifying for more than just his appearance, and his latest display of his power has just cemented his place as the spookiest hero in the entire Marvel Universe.

Del Frye literally turns out the lights on Skaar before introducing his scariest power to date. A Green Door opens up behind Del, and from the other side of it he summons a tidal wave of gnashing fangs and thrashing tendrils, as monstrous, grotesque Gamma beings emerge and violently pour over Skaar.

Del is apologetic to Rick Jones for unleashing the monsters they see in the Gamma every day, even if he has no sympathy for Skaar. Unfortunately, as impressive as Del's new abilities are, they still prove to be no match for the son of the Hulk.

This might not be an especially effective attack against their current enemy, but it does open the floodgates of just what Del Frye and Rick Jones are capable of. So far their power set has been relegated to a sort of sixth Gamma sense and being generally unsettling in their appearance.

With some help from Doctor Charlene McGowan and their teammates, Del Fry and Rick Jones could very well grow into the most powerful members of Gamma Flight by mastering their control over the Gamma and the beings that reside within it pending, of course, that they make it out of Abomination's stronghold alive.
