Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 has been causing him some wardrobe malfunctions.

Jackman spoke about the downside of his rapidly bulking body in a recent interview with Variety. The actor is currently finishing his stint as the leading man, Harold Hill, in the Broadway production The Music Man. Unfortunately for his stage costumes, Jackman has been quickly consuming protein shakes to rebuild Wolverine's muscular physique. On this matter, Jackman said, "Apologies to the entire cast of The Music Man and in particular my dresser and my wife — all the protein shakes are starting to kick in fast.”

Despite having his costumes adjusted twice, a disaster occurred after an 18-inch tear opened mid-performance, requiring immediate attention. As Jackman put it, "I had about two minutes. I said to the stage manager, 'New pair of pants!' I had my pants around my ankles. I thought, if my dresser doesn’t get here in time, it’s better to go on in split pants than no pants. Then I saw him running from stage right to stage left, top speed. We made it just in time."

Since the initial announcement in September 2022 by Deadpool 3 co-star Ryan Reynolds, the actor hasn't given away too much of what fans can expect from his team-up with Wade Wilson. The pair later released a "Deadpool Update, Part Hugh" video on YouTube to explain the plot of the upcoming film. However, their explanation was cut off when "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham! played over the two who continued to mime various action sequences. Despite this, a committed fan was able to lip-read the interaction and deduced that the pair were teasing plenty of violent encounters without giving away any details.

One thing the update video did answer was a question of continuity for the adamantium-plated warrior. The last time Jackman played the role of Wolverine was in 2017's Logan, which featured an aged and vulnerable mutant as his healing factor had all but disappeared. Logan's death finally comes at the end of the film, which Reynolds insists they won't be touching. Marvel Studios has confirmed that Deadpool 3 will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading some fans to believe it could also herald the arrival of more X-Men.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to premiere on Nov. 8, 2024.
