For 17 years, fans clamored to see Hugh Jackman don Wolverine’s iconic costume and mask from the comic books. However, this proved to be a fruitless wish, as the last opportunity to have that wish fulfilled came and passed with Fox’s Logan, in which the actor unsheathed his adamantium claws for the final time. This isn't the first time the actor has tastefully taunted fans with Wolverine's blue-and-yellow suit following his James Mangold-directed swan song. In March, Jackman posted a photo of himself holding a plastic Wolverine mask, not unlike the one in the costume above, on his Instagram account, simply referring to it as "THE Mask." Additionally, in February, he posted a photo of a Wolverine action figure suited up in the brown-and-tan costume introduced in Uncanny X-Men #139, giving some fans false hope just prior to the theatrical release of Logan.
Although Jackman's days as the adamantium-clawed mutant are over, Fox’s next X-Men films, The New Mutants, Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, arrive April 13, 2018, June 1, 2018, and Nov. 2, 2018, respectively.
