Hugh Jackman has commemorated Ryan Reynolds' 42nd birthday with a photo that will undoubtedly flame desires for that for Deadpool/Wolverine crossover film.

The photo, which depicts Reynolds (in costume, no less) embracing Jackman is accompanied by the caption, "Because I’m told that I AM THE NICEST GUY and you’re NOT. @VancityReynolds ... I will let you hug me. Just this once. On your birthday."

It's a more heartwarming message than the one Reynolds delivered earlier this month for Jackman's 50th birthday: photos of the Logan music box from Deadpool 2, which recreates Jackman's death scene from that film. "50th anniversary is wood, right?" the Deadpool actor wrote.

A Deadpool/Wolverine crossover has been championed by Reynolds and legions of fans, with the closest anyone has come being the post-credits sequence of Deadpool 2. Although Jackman has repeatedly insisted he's retired from the role of Wolverine after eight films, Reynolds has been persistent, going so far as to identity a loophole: Jackman could appear as himself, rather than as Logan, in X-Force or Deadpool 3.

Nevertheless, has fended off his advances, just last month laughing at the idea that he might be lured back into costume if The Front Runner director Jason Reitman were at the helm.

“Now, did Ryan Reynolds ask you to ask this question?” Jackman replied. “Because this sounds like a trick question. I love Jason Reitman, and actually, for all I say, I like Ryan Reynolds, but right now, Ryan — sorry, buddy, you’re going to have to work harder than that."
