After advising Ryan Reynolds that he's been pushing a little too hard for a Wolverine team-up, Hugh Jackman is now in the awkward position of admitting that Deadpool 2 is as good as those early reactions indicate.

In a new Instagram video, the actor somehow musters the strength to acknowledge the unthinkable. "I'm gonna say this once, and delete it, really quickly," Jackman dramatically states. "Deadpool 2 is a work of genius. It is epic, it is ... Dammit, I can't believe I said it."

It's obviously a low point for the Oscar nominee, made worse by Reynolds sharing with his 10.8 million followers what could easily be mistaken for a hostage video.

This comes just three weeks after the two teamed up for the 20th Century Fox presentation at CinemaCon in Lsa Vegas, followed by a fully costumed Reynolds crashing Jackman's birthday message by belting out "Tomorrow" from the hotel room bed.

However, neither video would seem to indicate that Jackman has softened his stance on returning to the role of Logan for an onscreen team-up with Deadpool.

Directed by David Leitch, Deadpool 2 features Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder, with newcomers Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable and Julian Dennison as Russell. The film opens May 18.
