A creative Studio Ghibli fan has transformed Howl's Moving Castle's fire spirit into a bacon spirit.

The image was posted by Reddit user Cafewisp, a self-described "college kid that can sorta cook," and showcases the bacon-Calcifer perched on an egg and large piece of toast. According to the cook, it was constructed by making "an aluminum foil ball and wrapping bacon around it while using a toothpick to hold them in place while they cooked." They also "fed him enough egg shells to tame him" to prevent the bacon from burning.

Cafewisp's Reddit account is filled with images of their culinary creations, including a sponge cake that features the animated version of Luke Skywalker, Turning Red-inspired bao buns and a bowl of Doraemon congee. There is also a Studio Ghibli bento that includes a Princess Mononoke mask made from salami and provolone cheese.

Howl's Moving Castle, based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Dianna Wynne Jones, premiered in theaters in 2004. Written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the movie tells the story of Sophie, a young hat-maker who is transformed into an old woman by a petty witch. The original Japanese version of Howl's Moving Castle stars Chieko Baisho (Weathering With You) as Sophie and Takuya Kimura (live-action Blade of the Immortal) as the flamboyant titular wizard, while the English dub features the voice talents of Christian Bale, Billy Crystal and Emily Mortimer.

The film went on to earn over $230 million at the worldwide box office, making it one of the highest-grossing anime movies of all time alongside other Studio Ghibli classics like Spirited Away, The Secret World of Arriety, The Wind Rises and Ponyo. Howl's Moving Castle also won Animation of the Year at the Tokyo Anime Awards in 2005 and was nominated in the best-animated movie categories at the Academy Awards and Saturn Awards in 2006.

Fans of Studio Ghibli have more to be excited about than just impressive and delicious-looking pieces of fan-made content. Most notably, Miyazaki has come out of retirement to work on a new animated film, titled How Do You Live?. Currently, an official release date for the project has not been announced. Moreover, Ghibli Park is expected to open its doors in Aichi, Japan this November. It will feature attractions inspired by Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro and many more.

Several films by Studio Ghibli, including Howl's Moving Castle, are available to stream on HBO Max.
