Howard the Duck may be returning to screens sooner than expected in an animated series.

According to an anonymous 4Chan user, Disney is in the early stages of development on a cartoon show starring Howard. It will be one of the first projects by the recently launched Marvel Studios Animation and will star see Seth Green reprise his role as the title character. Additionally, Disney is set to officially reveal the show at their Disney+ Day event on Nov. 12 and it is due to release in 2024. This should all be taken with a grain of salt, since the source makes the validity of the claim questionable.

Howard the Duck debuted in 1973 as a denizen from a dimension of anthropomorphic birds who accidentally gets stranded on Earth, "trapped in a world he never made." Written by Steve Gerber to be a satirical, absurdist character, Howard became a cult favorite among Marvel fans. He made the jump to live-action in a 1986 feature that was poorly received and generally regarded as a low-point for everyone involved (including executive producer George Lucas).

The character joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, appearing as part of the Collector's menagerie of rare and valuable creatures. He has since made cameos in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Avengers: Endgame and appeared in several episodes of the What If...? anthology series.
