The How to Train Your Dragon series is no stranger to building its lore between sequels. The animated series DreamWorks Dragons has been able to fill in the blanks between the films since its debut on Cartoon Network in 2012. The show moved to Netflix in 2015 and was retitled Dragons: Race to the Edge, and has recently been renewed for a sixth and final season.

The franchise has been celebrated both critically and commercially for its presentation. The first two How to Train Your Dragon films are considered emotional fantasy epics, and sit at 98 percent and 91 percent respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.

How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World hits theaters March 1, 2019.
