In its first weekend of release, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is already following in the footsteps of its critically-lauded predecessors, and the third movie in the trilogy may even go on to become the most successful film in the franchise at the box office.

Deadline is reporting that The Hidden World is set to earn $60 million at the US box office during its first weekend of release, though that number jumps to $62 million when previews are factored in. If this trend holds, The Hidden World will have the highest-grossing first weekend in the franchise and could go on to become the highest-grossing of the three films overall. For comparison, the first film in the series opened at $43.7 million, while the sequel netted $49.4 million.
