The Marvel Universe has never been short of iconic romances amidst its superpowered landscape. From Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson to Reed Richards and Sue Storm, there is always a love story being told somewhere on the comic book page, and none have been more groundbreaking than that of the Avengers' own Thor and She-Hulk (just known as Hulk at the time).
These two powerhouses may seem like an odd couple on the surface, but they couldn't be a better match, even if the two haven't seen each other in quite some time. Of course, that doesn't mean their story is over just yet.
Following the attack on Earth by the Final Host of Dark Celestials and their subsequent defeat at the hands of the Avengers, Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, found herself working right alongside the rest of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. This put Jennifer in the prime position to not only work with some of the greatest heroes of all time, but to get to know them all a little bit better as well, including Thor during 2018's Avengers #8 by Jason Aaron and David Marquez.
While the two were quick to hit it off, their first date a few issues later didn't go nearly as well as either of them had planned. What Jennifer had hoped would be a romantic evening instead turned out to be a trip to the Savage Land for drinks and dinosaur fights, giving her the idea that Thor had only ever intended to spend time with her hulking alter-ego. Thankfully, Thor was able to convey that his general awkwardness was merely that, turning what could have easily been a disaster into something straight out of a superpowered rom-com.
Unfortunately, that's about the time that things between the couple faded out of focus. Not long after their first date the couple was caught up alongside the rest of the Avengers in the War of the Realms, an event which saw them fighting on two different fronts. This separation wasn't helped by anything that has happened in the years since then, from Heroes Reborn seeing the Marvel Universe remade in Mephisto's dark image to Thor rising to the role of king of Asgard, not to mention Jennifer's own troubles with the Winter Guard in the pages of Avengers. With so much keeping them apart, it's no wonder the two haven't been seen together anytime recently, although that doesn't mean there isn't hope for them.
Jennifer Walters is set to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in her own series on Disney+ in 2022. She-Hulk, starring Tatiana Maslany in the titular role, already has Mark Ruffalo's name attached to it as well. That Bruce Banner will be playing any role, let alone a major one in the series leaves open the possibility for Thor to make an appearance in an otherwise unrelated series. The MCU was built largely on post-credits scenes, and those early cameos have made crossovers between various properties an integral and expected part of the MCU experience.
Even if Thor and Jennifer Walters don't rekindle their romance on the small or silver screen, it can't be too long before they run into one another again on the comic book page. The God of Thunder still has a relatively close working relationship with the Avengers, even if most of his time has been relegated to ruling Asgard, and She-Hulk is still very much a part of the team.
Assuming Thor is able to settle his duties as a deity and make time to visit Midgard for something other than a fight, there is no reason to think he and Jennifer couldn't pick back up right where they left off.
