The first trailer has debuted for How to Talk to Girls at Parties, director John Cameron Mitchell's adaptation of the sci-fi short story by Neil Gaiman.

Set in 1977, the film centers on a teenager named Enn who, while sneaking out with friends for an after-hours punk party, crosses paths with a strange group of young women who turn out to be aliens visiting Earth as part of a rite of passage. Enn falls in love with one of the aliens, Zan, and the two rebellious teens form a bond. But things get decidedly more complicated when Zan's people demand she return to their planet. The only way to respond appropriately to extraterrestrials with strict rules is, of course, a rebellion involving London citizens and aliens.

Based on a script by John Cameron Mitchell Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Shortbus) and Philippa Goslett, How to Talk to Girls at Parties stars Elle Fanning, Alex Sharp, Ruth Wilson, Matt Lucas and Nicole Kidman. The movie, which had its world premiere last year at the Cannes Film Festival, will be released May 11 in the United Kingdom and May 18 in the United States.
