Spider-Man: No Way Home's Tom Holland revealed the ways in which a Spider-Man mask alters his face and its overall effectiveness against the coronavirus (COVID-19) spread.

In an interview with Uproxx, Holland was asked whether his MCU costume worked as a pandemic mask, or whether the mask material was too thin to keep him truly safe. "I guess it does?" was his response, noting "I have to wear a helmet underneath the mask to give my very irregular-shaped head a nice, smooth, round kind of shape. And it has a mesh over the front of the mouth to stop condensation getting onto the mask. So, it is pretty good when it comes to stopping particles coming in and out of a suit."

However, Holland also revealed that he still used conventional masks while filming No Way Home to ensure that safety precautions were being followed during production. As the Cherry actor explained, "On the first day of shooting, I did walk on set in the Spider-Man suit with a mask on, to just set the tone for the crew that we were like, 'Guys, we're going to take this seriously. We're going to wear our masks.' And everyone's been amazing. And been very, very professional."

Spider-Man: No Way Home recently unveiled its official title in a humorous teaser after Holland and co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon posted various joke titles to their social media page. Little is currently known about the movie's plot, except that it will pick up from the aftermath of Spider-Man: Far From Home's mid-credit scene where doctored footage created by Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) was leaked to the public by the MCU's J. Jonah Jameson (a returning J.K. Simmons), framing Spider-Man for Mysterio's own plan and exposing Peter Parker's identity in the process.

It's been rumored that past villain actors from the Sam Raimi and Mark Webb Spider-Man franchises will make cameo appearances in No Way Home, including Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx.

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 17.
