WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the two-part Season 2 finale of Snowpiercer, "The Show Must Go On" and "Into The White."

Season 2 of Snowpiercer ends with quite a bang as Sean Bean's Wilford realizes that all that glitters isn't gold. He felt like he was God again, taking back the 1,034 cars of the Eternal Engine, adding them to Big Alice, only for Layton (Daveed Diggs) and a new revolution to screw the boss over. They ended up breaking off the front end of Snowpiercer to go find Mel, but while they did attain the climate model they were seeking, tragedy hit them hard.

Ironically, Wilford himself lost someone dear to him with Audrey being kidnapped by Layton to use as collateral. So, with all this drama on both sides of the coin, let's dissect what a third season could offer.

MERGING TWO TRAINS

Layton has Bess, Alex and most importantly, the driver, Ben, with him so he's well-equipped to speed back on the alternative track and reattach to the front again. The problem is, Wilford's army might not let this happen so easily. If Wilford discovers they have data to show the world can be repopulated again, he'll want them dead, using Big Alice to push his version of the future forward.

This sets up an intriguing war, with Layton short of allies who may be overpowered on Wilford's train. Connecting back is just part of it, though, as they'll have to find a way to make their findings public and sway people back to their cause. They don't have help in Hospitality anymore either, so Layton will be up against it in what could end up being a media and propaganda battle rather than a physical one.

THE PRISONERS OF WAR

Layton will be leveraging Audrey as he knows Wilford loves her, but Wilford has many more trump cards in his pocket. The last Breachman, Boki, was beaten senseless and captured; Roche and his family are in the Drawers; plus Zahrah and Layton's unborn baby stayed behind as they couldn't take the rigors of the mission.

Ruth also got left behind after betraying Hospitality so Wilford can take his pick. He'll have minions like Sykes, Kevin and L.J. just waiting to torture these people, too. Wilford could even make a wildcard decision by forgetting about Audrey because, ultimately, all he cares about is being revered. However, Layton has one key option: Josie and her cold resistance, which can be used to infiltrate and free their friends.

ALEX VS. WILFORD

It's going to boil down to Alex coming to kill Wilford as she discovered Mel died at the frigid weather station gathering the data for them. It's Wilford's fault as he scuppered the pick-up of her mom, leaving Alex thirsty for revenge. She'll have to cut a bloody path to get to him, through Oz and L.J. who are desperate to be his new "kids," but Mel did leave her encouraging words.

Mel's last will and testament tells Alex to become a rebel leader under Layton. Thus, by killing Mel, Wilford might have created his worst enemy. Alex knows the trains, both engines and secrets Wilford isn't privy to so she could play mind games on her quest for vengeance. It'll be intriguing to see if she'll temper logic with emotions, however, as everyone has a personal stake in the upcoming battle when clear heads have to prevail to ensure humanity's survival on these tracks.

Snowpiercer stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Jaylin Fletcher.
