That said, there are a few details about her that even some of her biggest fans might not know because they were mentioned in passing or only confirmed by the creator —or other cast and crew— in the manga notes or in interviews.

Time does go by in the series, and she is around 20 years old after the time skip, which sets in around Vol. 61, Chapter 598 of the manga, and episode 517 of the anime.

This makes her slightly older than Luffy, who appears to be around 17 when they first meet. However, this also makes her slightly younger than Sanji and Zoro, both of whom are around 19 when they debut in the series.

9 What Is Nami's Blood Type? Nami has the X type, which is the equivalent of a real-world A type

In the world of One Piece, blood types are given different classifications than real-world blood types, but they still seem to correspond to their real counterparts: X corresponds to A; F corresponds to B; S corresponds to O; and XF corresponds to AB.

Nami has the X type. In Japanese culture, a popular pseudoscientific belief holds that blood type reflects a person's personality. Using this, people with the equivalent A-type blood are considered tactful, responsible, stubborn, reliable, earnest, and intense.

One Piece doesn't take place in the real world, so real-world countries aren't really applicable to the characters. That said, series creator Eiichiro Oda did once reveal what real-life nationalities the characters would be if they were real in the manga.

Of all nationalities, Oda felt that Nami would most likely be Swedish if she were real. That said, the cover page of Chapter 790 also portrayed the characters in various real-life national costumes, many of which deviated from the original list. Nami, for example, was dressed as an American cowgirl. In the context of the series, however, Nami appears to come from the Oykot Kingdom, which is "Tokyo" spelled backward.

6 Does Nami Have Family? Nami is an orphan of war who was found as a baby by a young girl named Nojiko

One Piece Nami Bell-Mere

Both girls were then found by a Marine named Bell-mère, who adopted them and raised them in Cocoyasi Village. Rather fittingly, Bell-mère is a play on "Belle Mère," the French word for stepmother.

Although Bell-mère proved to be a loving mother, Nami at times resented the lack of money the family had, wishing she could have been taken in by a rich family. Tragically, Bell-mère ended up murdered by Arlong in front of Nami and her adopted sister.

Fans often like to think of alternate universes where the characters get to experience all kind of different lives. Because of this, it brings up the question of what kind of career the Straw Hat Pirates would enjoy having if they weren't pirates.

Once again, Oda shed some light on this by revealing some career choices that the characters would have. Nami, for example, was said to be suited as a childcare worker.

2 What Is Nami's Theme Color? Nami seems to have a fondness for the color blue

She is often wearing the color and even having a blue tattoo in the anime, but, in the manga, Oda revealed that if each of the characters had a signature color, Nami's would be orange, reflecting her hair color.

This is also reflected in the "Wake Up" opening where she is seen in a mostly orange costume, complete with an orange hat.

When it came to Nami, it was said that the Goro Goro no Mi, or Rumble Rumble Fruit, would suit her best, giving the user the power to create, manipulate, and even transform into lightning. In the series, Enel uses the power of this fruit.
