WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Part 2 of Lupin, now streaming on Netflix.

Netflix's Lupin had a bittersweet ending with Part 2 giving Assane Diop (Omar Sy) justice as he took down the Pellegrini empire. The master thief had the villainous Hubert sent to jail along with the corrupt police commissioner, Dumont. But while he managed to clear his dad of theft and suicide, Assane still ended up on the run as France's most wanted.

With that in mind, seeing as that Assane promised to find a way back to his family, let's dissect how Part 3 could unfold.

Assane Will Be Seeking Redemption

Assane may have absolved his dad, Babakar, of past crimes, but he needs to sanitize his own career. Hubert had Pascal frame Assane for the murder of another assassin, Leonard, which led the cops to Assane's lair and treasure trove. It confirmed to authorities that Assane and his jeweler bestie, Ben, were running various heists and rackets around Europe as masters of disguise.

Part 3 can focus on them trying to clear their name, maybe even working with the cops to catch other thieves. Guedira can vouch for them as Assane helped him take down the tyrants with key info, and they do trust each other. The cop's a rebel and a fan of Lupin books as well, which could create a super team with the mysterious hacker Assane created, Philippe -- another person Guedira's team would love to work with.

At this point, cutting a deal is the only way, with all the evidence stacked, if the thieves want to see their families again. The cops have admitted that they didn't have the intelligence to crack the Pellegrini conspiracy, and given the amount of corruption in their ranks, it'd be a great way for Guedira to show he can even take over from a broken Dumont.

Assane Has to Fix His Family's Problems

Assane promised Claire and his son, Raoul, he'd be back, but there's a lot to repair. Claire's with Marc now, and she was angry that Assane kept endangering them by running his revenge scheme for years. It'll be a big task to prove to her he's a good person again as he is addicted to wreaking havoc in society against the elite.

Raoul may also be taking influence from him as a Lupin fan, which could see the teen becoming wayward. It'll get worse if Claire finds out Assane temporarily went back with Hubert's daughter, Juliette, or that he had an affair with her in the past. Being on the lam is a great opportunity for Assane to meet up with other friends outside France. Part 3 can take his crew to other nations in Europe for heists, working with other colleagues who helped him hone his craft.

There's also a chance to take Assane back home to Senegal as the show has been coy over what happened to his mom after Babakar and the boy fled as refugees. He constantly avoided talking about her, even to Claire, so whatever secrets he holds on his past can be addressed.

Hubert Pellegrini Will Be After Revenge

Hubert always has trump cards hidden up his sleeves and while he was taken away by the police, he shot off a wry smile. He's got politicians and many friends in high places so there's a chance he can weasel his way out, despite Assane's evidence. Hubert may even become a Kingpin-like figure and work on vengeance from within a high-establishment prison.

Someone with so much influence cannot be taken lightly and he can deploy more assassins from his terrorist network like Pascal and Leonard to finish the job. He has no problem going after Assane's family, who are more vulnerable than ever. If Juliette aligns with her dad too, she could prove to be Assane's weakness and plot his downfall.

The point is, Hubert is a master manipulator and a puppet master who won't take this lying down, as he'd want to prevent Assane from proving he was involved in a Kuala Lumpur attack years ago. This incident would indict a lot of important politicians and contractors so it'd be in the interest of self-preservation. As such, some of these sinister bosses could train their gaze on Team Assane as well to keep their secrets silent.

Assane Has to Decide What the Pellegrinis Mean

By manipulating a naïve Juliette, Assane got her to get her mother, a regretful Anne, to help expose how Hubert framed his ex-butler, Babakar, for stealing a necklace. Amid all this drama, Anne still thinks fondly of the Diops, and out of guilt she put Assane through school, so Part 3 can focus on how he mends fences with her. Assane could be willing to forgive Anne for finally confessing on Hubert's insurance fraud and criminal links.

But Assane will need to protect her should Hubert want his ex-wife dead to maintain secrecy on the missions he ran and millions he made. If Juliette doesn't break bad and tries to testify, she might also become expendable. Assane will definitely want to protect her so a love triangle may well emerge again. The problem is, while she was a pawn in the game, Assane does love her, so it remains to be seen if Juliette can trust him again. She hates being a woman scorned, and once again, Claire coming first will leave a bad taste in her mouth.

Part 3 can see Assane needing a fresh start and finally wanting to officially be with Juliette if he realizes Claire isn't his soulmate, after all. Juliette loved him since they were teens but a lot will depend on if Assane is ready to let his old family go, especially as Anne would like to be the mother he never had.

Lupin stars Omar Sy, Vincent Londez, Ludivine Sagnier, Hervé Pierre, Soufiane Guerrab, Etan Simon, Shirine Boutella, Antoine Guoy and Clotilde Hesme. Part 2 is now available on Netflix.
