The Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded in many unexpected ways thanks to the rebirth of the multiverse. But for each reality with a set of heroes, there are also new villains that are more deadly and manipulative than ever. But the one universal constant among all realities isn't a team or a superhero, but a conqueror that goes by the name Kang. While He Who Remains seemingly represented the last of these conquerors in Loki, the new multiverse has promised many more on the way, starting with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will introduce another variant of Kang, though this one is far more dangerous and may be the main focus of future Avengers films, as he's already created havoc in the Quantum Realm in an effort to return home. But as the film's trailer has revealed, he has a history with a long-forgotten hero, Janet Van Dyne, aka the original Wasp. But if this variant wasn't supposed to exist in the Sacred Timeline, it raises more questions and greater concerns.

He Who Remains Missed Ant-Man 3's Kang

Kang's presence in Quantumania may seem like a simple by-product of the multiverse being created again, but the fact that Janet knew who he was and, more importantly, that he was a threat is unnerving. As explained by He Who Remains, he eradicated the other variants, quelled the multiverse into the Sacred Timeline, and was seemingly the last one left to keep the peace and balance in said timeline. But if Kang knew Janet before the multiverse was reborn in Loki, that would mean that he survived the culling of his variants and He Who Remains failed in his mission. But the way he did it implies a scary truth about this particular variant.

Being a master of time, it's a surprise that not one Kang had the foresight to see how the Multiversal War could end. That said, this belief may be true, as the variant in Quantumania might be not only the Kang of Earth-616 but also the only one smart enough to evade the war and its end before it happened. The Quantum Realm was also the best place to hide, as time never worked the same there. As a result, he could hide in plain sight from He Who Remains for what felt like eons, but it was only a few years for Kang.

The Quantum Realm Aided Kang's Big Plan

Kang's survival of The Multiversal War is only one aspect of why his existence is so impressive and scary. While not confirmed, the fact that time travel was possible in the Quantum Realm implied that the place might exist outside of time. As a result, he remained off of He Who Remains' radar and used the advanced tech and energy of the realm to amass his army. Essentially, Quantumania's Kang was able to work and plan without concern of being discovered, and he, a being who already was one step ahead, was now miles ahead of any form of retaliation.

If true, Kang's actions prove that he is easily the smartest of his variants and likely the one to start his new dynasty. Furthermore, he's also got experience on his side and now has no one that can find him, let alone defeat him. With immense power and experience on his side, he's even more cunning than Thanos, and preparing for a war that hasn't even started would mean that beating him would take surprise and sacrifice, as a master of time is nearly impossible to outsmart.
