Kevin Eastman -- the comic book artist behind the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -- has lent his talents to a certain other group of mutants, providing a limited-edition variant cover for Marvel Comics' House of X #1.
Eastman's variant for the X-Men-centric series' first issue prominently features Wolverine, claws popped as he stalks the night. This House of X #1 variant cover is available in limited quantities exclusively through Clover Press, which is taking pre-orders now.
Alongside writer Peter Laird, Eastman created the Ninja Turtles in the '80s, with the now-famous quartet of reptilian heroes making their first appearance in Mirage Studios' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 in 1984. The heroes in a half-shell have since had their printed stories published by Image Comics, Archie Comics and IDW Publishing (where they currently reside.) The team is also well-known for the various animated series that have graced televisions over the years.
Writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Pepe Larraz's House of X aims usher Marvel's X-Men into a new era and thrust the titular team of mutants back into the limelight. The six-issue series is being released Powers of X, which is from Hickman and artist R.B. Silva.
House of X #1 goes on sale July 24, followed by Powers of X #1 on sale July 31.
