The first season of House of the Dragon came to a dramatic end with the brutal death of Lucerys Velaryon and whilst little has been revealed in terms of the plot for Season 2, fans of the book series may know what to expect. In the novel Fire & Blood, the killing of Velaryon leads to a revenge killing from the notorious assassins Blood and Cheese. Two men from the group find and ultimately murder Prince Jaeharys. Writer Sara Hess has already alluded to the TV adaptation following this narrative, suggesting that fans will "not be disappointed."

As well as this potential killing, a bigger role has been teased for both Baela and Rhaena Targaryen in this upcoming season. Showrunner Ryan Condal stated that fans will be "seeing more" of the two sisters going forward. They were both set to appear at the end of House of the Dragon Season 1 but due to restrictions from HBO, the two characters had a scene cut out of the show.

HBO's House of the Dragon Is a Worthy Successor

House of the Dragon is a prequel to the critically-acclaimed Game of Thrones, which ran for eight seasons. Like its predecessor, it is based on another book by George R. R. Martin. The first season of the show ran for a total of ten episodes and saw the biggest opening in HBO history by hitting over 10 million viewers during its premiere and was quickly picked up for a second season just five days later.

There could be more to come from House of the Dragon too, with George R. R. Martin stating he believes there will need to be "four seasons" of the show in total to fully showcase the Targaryen civil war effectively. As yet though, no other seasons have been confirmed for production.

House of the Dragon is available to watch now via HBO Max.
