Very few would argue that Mavis isn't one of the best characters in the Hotel Transylvania series, most of the movies focusing on her character arc, along with that of her dad, Dracula. When we first meet her, her bubbly nature and thirst for life are infectious, instantly endearing herself to you.That energy never goes away through the series, though much of it is focused on her child Dennis in the second movie, with her becoming a stereotypical overprotective mother. She's a big reason the movie is as successful as it is and why it's getting a fourth movie next year. That said, she's so fantastic that we decided to check out some of the best cosplay that she's inspired.
10 Peace And Love
Before we even dive into the cosplay, can we talk about how amazing that handbag is? Love the ears, perfect accessory for a cosplay like this. You can't go wrong with the cameo from Deadpool in the background there either. As for the cosplay itself, it hits the simple design well, Mavis being a character you can easily bargain bin shop for at thrift stores.
Personality is what exudes well here, Kitty-Kei getting down the friendly and genuinely happy nature of the character. Unfortunately, beyond the name, there aren't any forms of social media for the cosplayer. Considering how well they handled this character, it's a shame they don't have a gallery of others.
9 Smile
The wig is done perfectly here by Noaxaon, curling on the ends to almost the exact angle they do from the movie. The rest of the cosplay works equally as well, particularly the contacts she used. They are the very same shade of dulled grey-blue, making the blackness of her pupil very pronounced.
The best part is the smile though, getting to show off both the fangs as well as Mavis's friendly disposition. She looks like Johnny just told her they were going to explore the world together, opening her horizons far beyond the castle.
8 Selfie
While selfie pictures aren't always the best, just as ones in conventions aren't, this deserves special consideration because she's actually wearing the correct color shoes. So many Mavis cosplay go with pink instead of the red converse. It makes them look more girly sure, but it's always an odd choice. Thankfully, unfortunatelizard sticks to the original.
Her leggings aren't the same, sadly, but they are at least striped. The fact her hair is a little bit frizzy is a plus though, giving it a more realistic look than even the movies have. She went with a more gray coloring that works well, even with that close-up shot.
7 Party Time
The decorations in the background are a really cool touch to the picture, making it seem like it was a party at the hotel, especially with all the lights strung up everywhere. From the way she's posed, it looks like Mavis is about to get herself a present from her dad, one she's super excited about, barely being able to contain the excitement.
The darkness of the colors that Anastasia chose pop well here, that black lipstick in particular. Their darkness helps bring attention to the blueness of her eyes, complimenting it very well.
6 Sassy
Most of the cosplay on this list focus on Mavis's inherent adorableness, that wonderment that anyone who's been locked away in a castle their whole life would have. Namaryn goes in a different direction, injecting her with a sassiness that lives in every teenager, no matter how old they actually are.
The way her hips are popped out makes it look like she's going to do what she wants, and there's nothing Dracula or her husband, Johnny, can do about it. Her fangs are really well done too, not being overly gaudy.
5 Happy Halloween
First off, we need to know where Lauz got those bat lights from because they look perfect for Halloween. They help boost this cosplay as well, tying in perfectly with Mavis and her vampire nature, as do the very subdued looking fangs. They are just long enough to barely see when she smiles. You never want to overdo the fangs or they can make a whole cosplay look cheap.
The rest of the cosplay looks cool as well, even if they went with fishnets over the stocking approach that many chose on this list. What really sells it though is the smile in the left picture, a grin that Mavis has on her face at least ten times a movie.
4 Slurpee
The fact that Frailu added in the Slurpee, Mavis's favorite drink from the second movie, is perfect. Those little details always boost up a cosplay to heights it wouldn't otherwise reach and shows the cosplayer knows the character, rather than just cosplaying as them because they are popular at the moment.
That doesn't diminish the rest of the cosplay either, it is perfect for the character, especially that one strand of hair that isn't quite smoothed down. Mavis always had more than a few hairs that stuck up from her scalp, refusing to be combed down.
3 Grins and Smirks
One person always seems to make their way on these lists, no matter what franchise is done, is Sosenka. Usually, that's via the Dragon Ball franchise, with Sosenka having a cosplay for just about every character you could imagine. Here she branches out beyond anime, doing a pretty good job on Mavis.
Her hair lacks the curls it needs, but she has the facial expressions down well, from the smile to that the sideways smirk Mavis has when she doesn't agree with someone. The only real downside is that her eyes are just a little too bright for the character.
2 Taste The Rainbow
The scene when Mavis first enters a convenience store is one of the most adorable scenes in the second movie, summing up Mavis and her whole personality to a tee. Ryoko-Demon nails that look, right down to her teeth being multi-colored from all the Slurpees that Mavis drank in quick succession. How they managed to do that is beyond us, but it looks incredible.
The rest of the cosplay is near perfection, hair curled just as it needs to be, and the loose hairs being present. The blue of her eyes blends exceptionally well with the background, as well as her Slurpee stained teeth. Both pictures just scream color and fun.
1 Straight From The Bring Screen
We have no idea how Xiaoroseeu managed to make herself look so animated. She looks like Mavis came out of a television and started walking around among us. For as great as every other cosplay is on this list, no one is ever going to be able to come close to this. It isn't just how animated she looks either.
Xiaoroseeu has the character's mannerisms down to a science, smile in the left picture looking like a spitting image from the movie. The paleness of her skin may be the most striking thing, making her eyes shine a brilliant blue that you can't help but look at. This is just a truly incredible cosplay.
