'Hotel Transylvania 2' Passes $400 Million Worldwide

"Hotel Transylvania 2" is still scaring up business, with Variety noting the Sony Pictures animated sequel has now grossed more than $400 million worldwide.

That's more than the lifetime box office of the 2012 original, which raked in $358 million. "Hotel Transylvania 2" had already broken the U.S. record set by the first film for the best September opening.

It's no surprise then that Sony has already staked out a 2018 release date for a third "Hotel Transylvania." However, this one will be without director Genndy Tartakovsky, who said in September that, "Two is enough. I have a lot of other ideas, and I kind of have to express them and have them come out.”
