What’s the deal with Horns? It’s a question we’ve been asking ourselves for a while now in regard to Alexandre Aja’s adaptation of Joe Hill’s supernatural thriller. The film made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, but even with its seasonal feel and a cast that includes Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple, the movie still doesn’t have a release date a week into October.
According to TheWrap, however, that could change relatively soon, as Horns has been picked up for North American distribution by Dimension and Radius-TWC.
The website reported over the summer that the film’s release had been held up by financial problems at effects house Newbreed.
Based on Hill’s bestselling second novel, Horns follows Ignatius “Ig” Perrish (Radcliffe), whose girlfriend Merrin (Temple) is mysteriously slaughtered, leaving him as the only suspect. On the first anniversary of her murder, Ig awakens from a night of drinking to discover he’s sprouted horns that compel people to confess their sins and give in to their worst impulses. As his horns grow even larger, Ig sets out to find the monster that killed Merrin. Keith Bunin (In Treatment) wrote the screenplay.
