Netflix's upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn series boasts an impressive creative team.Per VGC, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb posted a list of 27 people set to work on the Horizon Netflix series to Twitter, simultaneously revealing the current title as Horizon 2074. Among the names attached to the project include Location Manager Drazen Baric, who previously worked on The Boys Season 3, and Art Director Michele Brady, who held a similar position for The Expanse Season 5 and Seasons 2 and 3 of Locke and Key. Regarding its location shooting, Grubb tweeted that Horizon 2074 "will likely be set in Toronto as per conditions of tax incentives," but this has yet to be confirmed.RELATED: How Horizon Forbidden West's New Game Plus Works

The Horizon Netflix project was announced by Sony in May 2022 and, while its story remains unknown, Grubb implied in his GrubbSnax video series that Horizon 2074 will be split between two timelines: one in the distant past, and one in protagonist Aloy's present. Based on the Horizon franchise's established lore, the year 2074 holds no significant meaning, though it dates the Faro Plague robots' destruction of humanity by roughly eight years.

Released in 2017 by Guerilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn tells the story of Aloy, a huntress born into a post-post-apocalyptic America populated by diverse clans and robotic animals. An outcast of the matriarchal Nora Tribe due to her unnatural birth, Aloy soon finds herself embroiled in a war between factions of a formally tyrannical kingdom and an ancient AI set on destroying the world. Over the course of her adventure, she learns about her connection to the destruction of humanity's ancestors centuries ago.

The game received praise for its story, characters, and distinct environment within the open-world genre, going on to sell over 20 million copies by 2022 and turning Aloy into a modern PlayStation mascot. However, its success was dwarfed by Nintendo's genre-defining The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was released shortly afterward.

Developer Guerilla Games released a sequel for the PlayStation 5 titled Horizon Forbidden West in 2022. Continuing Aloy's journey as she seeks to heal the planet's biosphere from new disasters, the game received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, but, like Zero Dawn, was overshadowed by the success of another acclaimed open-world video game: FromSoftware's Elden Ring.

Netflix's Horizon Zero Dawn series does not yet have a release date.
