Image Comics' next miniseries Home will explore what happens when a hero from another land enters America -- albeit a land closer than Superman's.
The miniseries is created by Julio Anta and Anna Wieszczyk, with Bryan Valenza on colors. It centers around a boy who is separated from his mother at the border, which serves as the catalyst for his budding superhuman powers.
"As the son and grandson of Cuban and Colombian immigrants, and now a parent myself, the news of the government's family separation policy both broke my heart, and filled me with anger," Anta told THR in a statement. "Home is an attempt to channel those complicated feelings about what it means to be an American into a story about empowered Latinx characters dealing with the cruelty of our modern immigration laws."
"It was a pleasure working on the book with Julio," Wieszczyk added. "He has a very defined artistic vision for the story, and it was an enjoyable experience to be part of this journey."
Home marks the latest superhero-focused title from Image Comics. The publisher debuted Crossover by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw last year, which explores the ramification of a massive battle that brings every comic book character who ever lived into the real world. It will also publish Radiant Black by Kyle Higgins and Marcelo Costa in February, which puts a sentai-filled twist on the superhero genre.
Home #1 goes on sale digitally and in comic book stores on April 14.
