In August, it was revealed that Disney+ was planning a Home Alone reboot, and the first casting details are finally starting to trickle out.

According to Variety, Jojo Rabbit star Archie Yates will play the lead role, which isn't Kevin McCallister but is described as "a new character in a similar premise to the original franchise." In the 1990 Home Alone film, Macaulay Culkin played Kevin, a young boy who is forgotten at home when his parents head to Paris for the holidays and sets up elaborate booby traps to thwart a pair of burglars.

Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney have also been cast in the reboot, although not as the parents of Yates' character, as originally thought. Instead, Kemper and Delaney are expected to play a couple that's unrelated to the lead.

The film is being called a Home Alone reboot because the premise is so close to the 1990 film. However, it's likely they won't share the same title at all. There is no word yet when the movie will debut on the streaming service, but filming is set to begin in Canada in 2020.

In addition to this new remake, Home Alone has already had four sequels to its name, most notably Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, the only one to feature Culkin reprising his role.
