Hogwarts Legacy has received praise, allowing Harry Potter fans to step into the world of Hogwarts like never before. Once there, students can cast spells and learn how to become powerful wizards and witches. But one notable exclusion from the game is the Patronuses that appear in the books and movies, which are entirely absent from the game.

Despite Hogwarts Legacy encompassing much of the lore surrounding Harry Potter, adding more since its release, the lack of Patronuses leaves fans without the animal companions they had hoped for and excludes a vital defense mechanism from the Dementors. Including Patronuses would make the game feel more personal as they align with the personality of the wizard or witch.

10 Stag

Hogwarts Legacy has a great magic system, but not including at least one Patronus makes the system feel incomplete. If the game were to include only one Patronus, it should be the stag as it is Harry Potter's and plays a significant role in Prisoner of Azkaban.

The stag could have been used to show students how to master their magic and conjure their own Patronus. This would have been a welcome Easter Egg to the titular character of the books and movies that inspired the game.

9 Jack Russell Terrier

Fully formed Jack Russell Terrier Patronus

The Jack Russell Terrier Patronus is linked to Ron Weasley, and speaks to his loyalty as a friend and his stubborn attitude. While the Jack Russel is a small dog, it is persistent, loyal, and could be matched with different players based on a quick personality test, like The Sorting Hat.

A Jack Russell Terrier Patronus would be an excellent reference for fans of Ron Weasley and include the character in the game subtly. Additionally, since Jack Russells are known to chase ground-dwelling critters, otters included, the Patronus perfectly suits Ron and Hermione's relationship.

8 Otter

Fully Formed Otter Patronus

The inclusion of Patronuses could have been unlike through a minigame in Hogwarts Legacy, where players could find out if they had the same Patronus as Hermione.

Hermione's Patronus is an otter, often seen as adorable and small but deceptively powerful. Otters are fast and resourceful, just like Hermione and her magic. Players could feel more connected to the powerful witch if an otter Patronus were added to Hogwarts Legacy.

7 Phoenix

Dumbledore's Phoenix Patronus

Dumbledore is one of the most well-loved characters in Harry Potter. Hogwarts Legacy takes place before Dumbledore was born, but that doesn't mean his Patronus couldn't be included in the game. A Phoenix Patronus could be added to the game as a hint to Dumbledore's coming and all that happens to create the story of Harry Potter, as fans know it.

The Phoenix is seen as a symbol of resilience and rising from the ashes to start again. Phoenix could be assigned to students who have struggled with magic but have continued to preserver.

6 Tabby Cat

Fully formed Tabby Cat Patronus

Despite being one of the strongest witches at Hogwarts, Professor McGonagall isn't in Hogwarts Legacy, but her Patronus should be. Professor McGonagall famously transforms into a cat, so it stands to reason that her Patronus is the same.

Cats are intelligent and cunning, making them perfect for students who have learned spells quickly and have the potential to become one of the most powerful in their class. Professor McGonagall is also the head of Gryffindor. Her Patronus could be reserved for students of the same house if it were added to Hogwarts Legacy.

5 Badger

Badgers are fierce creatures that are skilled hunters and the mascot of Hufflepuff, which makes it one of many Patronus that should be included in Hogwarts Legacy. Those who belong to Hufflepuff are hard workers and loyal, which are traits that apply to the badger Patronus.

Even if the creators of Hogwarts Legacy only added a few Patronus, the animals that represent the four houses should be included above all else. This would keep the game from getting overly vast but still allow Patronus to be a part of the world.

4 Peacock

Lucius Malfoy is a powerful wizard with few happy memories to draw upon to conjure his Patronus. But in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows book, Snape mentions that Lucius calls upon a peacock for protection.

Since peacocks aren't deeply associated with other characters, players can feel like their Patronus is unique and not like they have to associate themselves with another character from the books and movies.

3 Dragon

Magical beasts are already a part of Hogwarts Legacy, but adding mythical Patronuses would make the game even better. Dragons often appear in the Harry Potter movies and books, so it would make sense that they would appear as Patronuses for the most fierce and aggressive students at Hogwarts.

Dragons can fly and breathe fire, making them formidable foes in magical and material forms. Dragons could be used as the rare Patronus, making it a collectible and highly sought-after item in Hogwarts Legacy.

2 Lion

Lions represent Gryffindor and are seen on the crest of the house that Harry and his friends occupy. Lions are seen as symbols of strength and leadership; they are also skilled protectors, making them a perfect defense against Dementors.

This Patronus could be assigned to students loyal to the other students in their house and help protect them from evil forces. Gryffindor stands for bravery and helping others, so the lion could be conjured by helpful students and those who aren't afraid to stand out.

1 Eagle

Flying Eagle Patronus

Ravenclaw has an Eagle as their house mascot, which is also a Patronus. Eagles are known for being noble and a symbol of freedom. This is the perfect Patronus for students who are free thinkers and aren't afraid to go against the grain.

Patronuses are meant to be conjured by happy memories, and the Eagle could come from students who are most comfortable when they are free and able to explore all the possibilities before them. A quiz or some sorting would determine this but would make Hogwarts Legacy more personal for players.
